THE鍵KEY A new site-specific, dramatic musical work inspired by Junichiro Tanizaki’s ‘The Key’ (1956) by composer and director Francesca Le Lohé. Ensemble of soprano, baritone, mezzo-soprano/actress, dancer, shakuhachi, sho, biwa, kotsuzumi/shimedaiko, clarinet, violin, cello and double bass (duration: c90'). Sound excerpt compiled of recordings made throughout rehearsal process and from the world premiere at Nakacho House, Tokyo, Japan, 19th May 2018.

T&I for E♭ clarinet and piano (5'). Commissioned by Paul Vowles. Performed by Paul Vowles (E♭ clarinet) and Gemma Beeson (piano) at Cheap Street Church, Sherborne, UK, 8th August 2017. T&I is a development on the incidental music created for Nelke Planning and Whole Hog Theatre's adaptation of ''トリスタンとイゾルデ'(Tristan and Isolde), produced by Gorch Brothers.
ボナンで笙( Bonang de sho) for Makoto Nomura and 千住だじゃれ音楽祭 (Senju Dajare Onagaku improvisors group) and Shin Sakuma, dancer. Originally written for 笙 (sho), 5 bonang, melodicas (as many as possible) and free instrumentation (duration: open). Premiered by Senju Dajare Ongaku at Tokyo University of the Arts, Senju Campus, Tokyo, 19th February 2017. Illustrated score designed and created by Senju Dajare Ongaku member, Takuya Kohiyama.

Tristan and Isolde Music and soundscapes for Whole Hog Theatre's adaptation of ''トリスタンとイゾルデ" (Tristan and Isolde), sponsored by Nelke Planning ( ネルケプランニング), Produced by Gorch Brothers (ゴーチ ブラブラザーズ) and supported by The Daiwa Anglo Japanese Foundation Scholarship Programme. Performed at the DDD Aoyama Theatre in Shibuya, Tokyo from Jan 12-15, 2017.
Breath, Bile, Blood, Bone for Shakuhachi and Biwa (7'). Collaboration with Kumiko Shuto (Biwa), commissioned by Kumiko Shuto and Kifu Mitsuhashi.

Adaptations for chamber ensemble and electronics (10'). Written for the Sounds of the Engine House Composition Award 2014. Premiered by the ensemble at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation, Manchester, 5th June 2015. Electronics were produced whilst in residency at Elektronmusikstudion, Stockholm, Sweden, August 2014 and NOVARS, University of Manchester, April 2015.

Far From Arcadia for flute and fixed media (4'). Written for Gavin Osborn. Premiered by Gavin Osborn, St Ann's Church, Manchester, October 2014.
Saida Portraits for piano and percussion (10’). Premiered by Siwan Rhys (piano) and George Barton (percussion) arranged by the new music organisation, New Dots, June 2014, The Forge, Camden. London.
Forgotton Voices (work in progress) for SATB Choir (4’). Workshopped by the DR VokalEnsemblet as part of the TENSO Days Young Composers Workshop, Round 1, 16-18th May, Mechelen, Belgium. Forgotten Voices shall be developed further for DR VokalEnsemblet in TENSO Days Young Composers Workshop, Round 2, in Copenhagen, November 2014.

Kagi for flute (doubling piccolo) and piano (15’) Premiered by Francesca Le Lohé (flute/piccolo) and Kumiko Shuto (piano) in November 2016 at Karura Hall, Tokyo.
Que Morro for string trio (5’). Written for Red Note ensemble and performed in February 2013, Stevenson Hall, RCS.
τρόμος (TROH-moh-s) for soprano, percussion (one performer) and fixed media (11’) Text by Sappho. Composed for soprano Dana Cerminaro who gave the premiere in May 2013, Stevenson Hall, RCS. Japanese premiere given by Akane Kudo (soprano) in August 2016 at Suginami Koukaido Hall, Tokyo. Video can be seen here.

Blind Men and an Elephant for flute/piccolo, bass clarinet, violin, cello, piano and marimba (6’). Written for Psappha ensemble and performed in January 2012, Stevenson Hall, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
The Girl With Red Hair for flute/piccolo, violin and guitar. Incidental music for the play ‘The Girl with Red Hair’ by Sharman McDonald. Staged by the University of Glasgow Drama Society at The Flying Duck, Glasgow, February 2012.

Autumn Song cycle for Baritone, clarinet (doubling bass cl), violin and piano (10’). Texts by Maurice Pertshcuk, F.S.Flint and from anonymous Japanese poetry. Premiered by Tim Langston and the Echo Trio at Estival, Univeristy of Manchester, June 2011.

Waves on the Ebb for flute (doubling piccolo), oboe, clarinet, bassoon, 2 violins, viola, cello, double bass (5’). Composed as part of the Manchester Camerata Young Composer’s Project 2010. Workshopped by Manchester Camerata, February 2010, RNCM, Manchester. Premiered by Vaganza ensemble, March 2010, Manchester University and a reduction was performed by “Raise Your Voice” ensemble in February 2010 at Centro Bar, Manchester.
